Perform outreach activities within the city such as preparing marketing materials, posting flyers, web and social media presence, along with visiting and speaking with individuals and organizations to build awareness of LUL. Minimum 3-6 month commitment.
Become involved in the organization and business development of LUL. This includes program development, strategy, legal and financial aspects of creating and growing a nonprofit. Ideal for someone at a grad school level looking to get into the nonprofit field by applying skills in a new and dynamic organization. May also be the perfect opportunity for someone looking to get out of the corporate world and utilize business skills to help promote social good. You must have demonstrated professional experience in the area of your interest, with verifiable results and references. Minimum 6-12 month commitment.
Volunteer Philosophy contact us
We have a volunteer philosophy that you may find differs from many nonprofit organizations you have previously encountered, heard about, or worked with. Therefore, so we don't waste your time or ours, we'd like to share it with you.
LUL holds volunteers to very high standards of commitment and follow-through. Volunteers at LUL choose what they would like to do, however, once committed they are expected to complete their commitment by an agreed upon time. Volunteers must adhere to deadlines and be productive, as we are a goal oriented organization that isn't able to give volunteers open-ended projects to work on whenever it's convenient for them.
While we have fun with what we do, everyone involved must understand that helping others change can only happen when all involved carry out their responsibilities with a sense of urgency and professionalism. If this resonates with you, then we would love to have you contact us. However, before contacting us, please take time to think about your abilities, how you think you could best contribute, and have some thoughtful questions in mind that you feel would help us both determine the best volunteer opportunity for you.
We really enjoy speaking with potential volunteers that are positive, organized, hard-working individuals who present themselves in a professional manner and whose past actions and achievements show us that they are who they say they are. We particularly appreciate those who have taken the time to read through our website, are able to clearly and concisely articulate how they feel they can and would like to help us, and are ready to make a commitment to helping women affected by domestic violence change their lives.
