Are you a responsible person?

This is a question we put out there in our discussion following our dance workout yesterday.

Some of the questions on a little self-evaluation were; Am I reliable?  Do I exercise self-control?  Do I make good judgments and think through consequences?

It's easy to quickly answer yes to these questions without even thinking....but upon further thought most of us if we are honest with ourselves realize that oftentimes we fall short of being responsible.  Acknowledging and taking ownership of this reality is critical to making positive changes in any aspect of life.  Because of our focus on making fitness related changes as a springboard to making life changes the question of being responsible can be thought of in terms of becoming or being fit.

Things such as reliably sticking to an exercise routine even when you don't feel like it.  Having self-control when it comes to eating and getting adequate rest.  Thinking through consequences and making good judgments about actions that will affect your health and fitness.  These are tangible things that one can focus on in order to take responsibility for being fit and healthy.  With the support of others follow through in these areas becomes easier and more manageable.  Then, over time, these same healthy behaviors can be applied in other areas of one's life that may seemingly be more difficult to change.

Owning your actions makes change possible.
